WWE fans react in horror as star ‘dislocates’ shoulder in SummerSlam title match before putting it back in socket

Rhea Ripley appeared to dislocate her shoulder during a match WWE SummerSlam – before putting it back in place and continuing to wrestle.

The returning Ripley, only just back in action after a serious shoulder injury, looked to sustain the freakish set-back in the opening moments of the Women’s World Championship bout with Liv Morgan.

She was forced to vacate the championship, which was later won by Morgan, setting up the inevitable feud that lead to the huge SummerSlam showdown in Cleveland.

The former champ made a stunning comeback to a thunderous reception on Raw a few weeks ago to set the stage for the bout, despite reported concerns that she wasn’t yet cleared to wrestle.

Having been forced into the turnbuckle by Morgan, ‘Mami’ was left screaming ‘It’s out!’ to the match referee before taking herself out of the ring seemingly to compose herself.

The match continued, with Morgan continuing to attack her rival, who heavily favoured her injury for a number of minutes before appearing to put the shoulder back in its socket during the live Premium Live Event.

With a wild look in her eye, Ripley drove herself into the ringside commentary table, appearing to secure the shoulder and allowing her to continue the action for the rest of the match more freely.

One fan recoiled on X, saying: “Rhea dislocated her shoulder… Willingly ran into the announce table to shift it and popped it back into place. Like, for real….”

Another said: “Rhea Ripley popping her shoulder back in is a CRAZY visual,” while a third posted: “This was one of the most creative things I’ve seen in a wrestling match. She popped her own shoulder back in place! Rhea Ripley continues show why she’s one of the best to do this.”

A further post applauded Ripley, saying: “Rhea Ripley has just used the announce table to pop her shoulder back in its socket… what the f*** is this woman made of!”

The ending to the match appeared to suggest the Morgan-Ripley rivalry will carry on beyond the summer, with a furious Damien Priest confronting Judgement Day brother Finn Balor about Mysterio’s double-cross backstage.

Prior to having to surrender the gold, Ripley had been enjoying a record-setting run as Women’s World Champion having established herself as one of WWE’s most dominant performers.
