WWE Superstar Ricochet has given the company notice that he intends to leave after his current contract expires this summer, per Mike Johnson of PW Insider.
“We are told that Ricochet is expected to be written out of WWE storylines very soon in advance of the contract expiration,” Johnson reported Saturday on Ricochet, who is currently performing on Raw.
Ricochet also “liked” the following post on X, formerly known as Twitter. It was posted one day before Johnson’s report that Ricochet would be leaving WWE:
Mr. Petty II @DaFoxNamedPettyNo lieā¦.i frfr think it’s time for @WWE to really let @KingRicochet show what’s he’s got on the micā¦.his wrestling ability goes without sayingā¦.I feel Rico got some shit to get up off his chestā¦.for everybody that thinks he can’t talk the talk like he walks the walk
Ricochet has found great success in WWE, winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship, The United States Championship and The WWE NXT North American Championship.
The fast and high-flying performer also won the first-ever WWE Speed Championship.
The 35-year-old made his professional debut on his 15th birthday (Oct. 11, 2003) for Chaos Pro Wrestling under the name he still uses to this day. He made numerous stops over the next 15 years, most notably at Dragon Gate USA, New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Lucha Underground.
WWE then signed Ricochet in 2018, and he made his way to NXT, where he won the North American Championship and also the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Aleister Black. One year later, Ricochet made his debut on the main roster.
Ultimately, Ricochet is an incredibly talented wrestler whose talents probably weren’t utilized as best as they could have been in WWE.
Ibou, of WrestlePurists @BackupHangmanThe era of underutilized undercard wrestlers staying in one spot for 10+ years because it’s financially secure seems to finally be coming to an end, and that’s healthy and great for wrestling.
Ricochet telling WWE he’s out ahead of time is gutsy, and slightly surprising, butā¦
Kate | Fightful | Mark Order @MissKatefabeMuch like what I’ve said about Shane Haste, they’ve had 62828191 years to get it right with Ricochet. Competition is good. Give wrestlers places to work and to shine. https://t.co/pkjzzyLgOf
luchablog @luchablogWWE strapped that twitter title onto Ricochet and he suddenly decided that was it, he’s had to get out of that company ASAP. Good luck to La Sombra.
Seth Joseph @SethJoseph95As much as I don’t want Ricochet to leave WWE, I truly don’t blame for going either. He always had the potential and they barely did anything with him. Imma still support my fav wherever he decides to go šŖš½
Jason Solomon ā”ļø @solomonsterPer PWInsider, Ricochet has given WWE notice that he intends to leave the company when his deal expires this summer. Didn’t think he would do it, but good for him. He is going to get a TON of interest and rightfully so.
Perhaps a change of scenery is needed for him to truly showcase him at his best elsewhere. And if so, that’s a big win for wrestling fans, who will get to see this electric talent perform at his peak.
