WWE Speed Results (07/10/24): Baron Corbin, Angelo Dawkins fire up latest No.1 contender tournament
A resounding success it was for the Money in the Bank and Heatwave weekend, though the WWE did have some controversial hiccups and decisions that are ripe for discussion. But while things get sorted following the raucous return of Rhea Ripley and the signing of Stephanie Vacquer, WWE Speed begins its latest contender tournament.
Andrade was able to successfully fend off Xavier Woods of The New Day last week to retain the title in Toronto, and he’s building quite an extended reign as WWE Speed champion — all things considered.Â

Will Baron Corbin use Speed to help rebuild his brand, or can Angelo Dawkins of the Street Profits show he’s more than simply one-half of arguably the best tag team in WWE?
— WWE (@WWE) July 10, 2024Neither wrestler is exactly built for this type of wrestling format, and that makes it that much more intriguing to see how it would all play out.
Literally three seconds into the match, Dawkins had already flipped over Corbin’s head and rolled him up into a near pinfall, and that told Corbin all he needed to know about the dangers of his opponent. Dawkins may be one the bigger side, but the Street Profits are action-packed and high-flying, so he entered this fight with that working for him.

Corbin was able to slow the pace a bit by utilizing his strength and power, but Dawkins took to the top rope and dropped a Swanton Bomb on Corbin to regain control. Â
With only thirty seconds remaining, a kick to Corbin’s head seemingly discombobulated him, but that was only a sell. So when Dawkins tried to finish him off with a rope run, he instead got caught and finished by an End of Days finisher.
Corbin advances, Dawkins heads back to SmackDown having received just that: the smackdown.
