Xbox Game Pass Adds New MechWarrior Title Next Week, FM25 Delayed To March
A bit of good news, a bit of bad news
We’ve had to shift our big 2024 Xbox Game Pass guide around a little bit today! The good news is that we’ve got a brand-new addition to Game Pass in October – MechWarrior 5: Clans. The bad news is that the highly-anticipated November title, Football Manager 25, has suffered a significant delay to March 2025.
Let’s start with MechWarrior. As we mentioned earlier in the year, MechWarrior 5: Clans is a standalone sequel to MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries from a few years ago, featuring a “tight campaign of narratively driven missions”.
A new gameplay trailer has dropped today (which you can watch above), while pre-orders are also now available. MechWarrior 5: Clans will launch for Xbox Series X and Series S via Game Pass on Wednesday, October 16th.
Meanwhile, Football Manager 25 was supposed to be launching on November 25th, but Sports Interactive and SEGA have announced today that it needs more polishing time before it’s ready to go – it’ll now arrive in March at some point.
In a message on social media, they explained that transitioning to the Unity engine has proved a challenge:
“FM25 is the biggest technical and visual advancement in the series for a generation. We simply cannot compromise the deliver of this crucial juncture in Football Manager’s history by rushing to release it in November.”
“Timelines were already tight and, as rightly pointed out by many of your recent comments, we were simply rushing too much and in danger of compromising our usual standards.”
As a result, we’ve moved Football Manager over to our Xbox Game Pass list for 2025, which is already filling up nicely! Sure, the delay is a shame, but we’re looking forward to checking out this “new era” of FM in a few months’ time.
