Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Will Now Get 75+ Day One Titles Per Year, A ‘50% Increase’ On Before

“That’s a 50 percent increase over last year”

A major part of Microsoft’s new plan to cram more benefits into its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is to double down on day one releases in that top tier, and as it turns out, the team claims that we’re talking a 50% increase on day one Game Pass additions over the next 12 months – and for every year after that.

In a briefing with outlet The Verge, Dustin Blackwell (director of gaming and platform communications at Microsoft) talks about the new plan to add “more than 75 day one releases” into Game Pass Ultimate each year. Blackwell mentions this is a “50 percent increase” over what the team was offering last year, which is quite a big leap.

“We’re also now giving access to more than 75 day one releases each year,

That’s a 50 percent increase over the day one titles we provided last year.”

It’s also interesting that, as we mentioned at the top, this new quote seems to suggest 75+ day one games will be the norm for each and every year moving forward. We’ve seen a few different variants on this including just “over the next 12 months” in some instances, but it makes sense that the team will want to keep this going to justify the new price.

It can be hard to keep track of all the day one releases coming to XGP every year, but that new 75-strong number certainly sounded like a bold aim when we first heard it yesterday. This quote gives us even more context; a 50% increase is a big jump in just one year and Microsoft is going to have its work cut out cramming all of those into the service, and each year afterwards. Now we just have to see where the quality lies with all of these day one additions!

Is this a big enough incentive for you to stay on GPU? Talk to us about this improved number down below.
