Yankees’ famous tradition thrown aside in disappointing outcome for New York
The New York Yankees most under-the-radar, game-changing offseason decision showed itself for the first time on Tuesday night.
After the Yankees lost at home to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the dulcet tones of Frank Sinatra came over the Yankee Stadium loudspeakers.
But it wasn’t “New York, New York” playing. Instead, “That’s Life” rang out loud and clear.
It was the debut for this new tradition that takes over, just after losses.
After wins, Yankees fans can still sing to “Start spreading the news.”
But after losses, the Bronx Bombers faithful now has to go with, “Each time I find myself flat on my face, I pick myself up and get back in the race.”

Great lyrics, to be fair.
But still quite the change, and a potentially disappointing break from tradition to fans who only get to see one Yankees game every couple of years. If they hadn’t been in a while, they surely would’ve preferred the long-standing New York-themed melody.
For those fans, the Yankees will just have to be sure to win at home.
