Yoel Romero viciously knocks out 6’6 giant in main event of Jon Jones’ debut show for Dirty Boxing Championship

Yoel Romero needed almost all three rounds to fell the giant Ras Hylton in the first official Dirty Boxing Championship event.

Just days after Jon Jones announced his ownership stake alongside Mike Perry in the divisive new promotion, Romero main evented a stacked event The Hangar in Miami. Despite being a former UFC middleweight contender and being just 5’10, he took on massive 6’6 heavyweight Hylton.

Romero tipped the scales at 225lb, a whopping 40lb more than his title contending best, opposite 256lb Hylton. And the massive size difference proved a factor as the veteran struggled to fell the tree, needing all but 40 seconds of the fight.

The bigger man stayed intelligently behind his jab, forcing ‘Hail Mary’ shots including a Superman punch from his rival.

Romero began to work the body to good success in the second, but was arguably two rounds down as they moved into the third. He started moving through the gears in the early stages of the third, putting his rival under major pressure.

Eventually, he managed to crack Hylton with a two-punch combination that included a beautiful hook that sent him to the floor. The fight was instantly called off and Romero was declared winner by knockout.

He was in from early to watch his teammate Maurice Greene’s unfortunate defeat on the prelims. He appeared in a number of promotional videos, and even got into the ring at the end of the night to pose with Romero.

Also in attendance were controversial influencers Adin Ross and Patrick Bet-David, as well as a number of NFL stars and others. Mark Coleman was also ringside to watch the action alongside other top former UFC stars.
