Leny Yoro played his first minutes for Manchester United in our friendly against Rangers on Saturday afternoon and he already cannot wait for more.

Having only been officially announced as the Reds’ latest signing on Thursday evening, it is fair to say it’s been a whirlwind few days for the 18-year-old defender.

Fresh from getting to know his new surroundings at Old Trafford and Carrington, he headed to Murrayfield and was thrown straight into the starting XI by Erik ten Hag, producing an assured first-half performance before the boss rotated the entire outfield cast at the interval.

After the match, Yoro was quizzed on his experience and cut a delighted figure, but saved the bulk of his excitement for our incredible fans.

Leny’s reaction to first United minutesLeny Yoro loved playing in front of the United fans for the first time! Here’s what he said to MUTV at full-time…

Speaking to MUTV, he said: “The fans, they are everywhere. They are really good with us. Of course, they were here for me, so for me it was really important.

“So, thank you to the fans. Hope to see you soon in Old Trafford.”

The former Lille man looked at ease on the ball, both in close quarters and when dispatching long-range passes as space opened up ahead of him.

A slight mix-up between him and Jonny Evans – to be expected having only just been introduced to one another – was a brief cause for concern as the Gers seized the loose ball, but Yoro rushed backed and swept up excellently to prevent the opposition profiting.

“For me, it was incredible,” the defender said, of his first minutes with the Reds. “It was a really good game from the team. I’m happy with my performance and I hope we continue like that.”

The Reds’ newcomer credits not just his own ability but also those around him for his inspired first United display in the Scottish capital.

He said: “Team-mates helped me a lot, the staff, they make me comfortable.

“On the pitch, we are together, so for me, it’s very good.”

With his first United minutes in the bag, Yoro now only has eyes for what’s to come.

He’s expected to travel with the squad to the United States next week as we face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool across the pond, and he’s already sizing up the challenge.

“We have three games, competitive games,” he said. “The fans will be there, I know.

“And with the team, we’ll give everything to win these games.”
