You Had Your Fun with Umamusume, Now It’s Time to Get Serious with Champions Stable

No more horsing around

Umamusume: Pretty Derby really left its mark on 2025, didn’t it? While things have quietened down a bit now, for a while you couldn’t move for anime horse girls.

The game remains popular, of course, but what if you fancy something a bit more grounded in reality? Well, publisher Leonardo Interactive has announced Champions Stable: Equestrian Dynasty, and it’s about actual jockeys and horses, and there’s (presumably) a lack of post-race anthems.

Here’s the announcement trailer:

Coming to PC and consoles in 2026, Champions Stable is an “open world horse racing management game” built in Unreal Engine.

You’ll be able to directly control your horse during races, or you can view the action from a top down view, keeping a closer eye on all the stats as you manage your team.

Here’s a little more info on what the game entails:

“Every decision matters. From breeding and finances to training schedules and facility upgrades, Champions Stable simulates a living, evolving world where every number and gene can make or break your success. Participate in live auctions, scout rivals, and carefully plan your genetic bloodlines to breed the next generation of champions. Players can compete across real-world legendary circuits recreated in stunning detail including Ascot, Tokyo Racecourse, Churchill Downs, Flemington, Longchamp, Capannelle, and Meydan.”

It sounds quite involved; you can ride around in an open world outside of races, as well as look after your horses by grooming them and building bonds with them.

We can only assume this is heading to PS5 when it arrives next year, and if so, it’ll be interesting to see if the team can map the management game nicely to the DualSense.
