‘You’re wrong about CM Punk’ – Attitude Era legend reveals details of recent first meeting with WWE star

CM Punk may be one of the most controversial stars in the modern wrestling era, but Attitude Era legend D-Von Dudley says many are ‘wrong’ about The Best in the World.

Currently sidelined through injury, Punk is still making an absolute menace of himself in WWE, notably tormenting Drew McIntyre.

It’s fair to say that major WWE star CM Punk has ruffled a few feathers in the wrestling industry over the yearsCredit: WWEPunk is arguably the reason McIntyre’s reign as World Heavyweight Champion lasted just five minutes after the two clashed at WrestleMania 40 in the aftermath of Drew’s big win over Seth Rollins.

McIntyre and Punk continue to trade verbal blows each week on WWE Raw and across social media, with a memorable feud sure to follow once the latter makes it back to in-ring competition.

That the Chicago native can still get under McIntyre’s skin – albeit in storylines – is testament to Punk’s ability to rub people up the wrong way.

He’s had his share of controversy over the years, from his infamous Pipe Bomb promo in WWE to a backstage brawl in AEW that ultimately resulted in his departure from Tony Khan’s company.

Attitude Era icon D-Von Dudley, one half of The Dudley Boyz, feels Punk is a natural fit in the organisation whose onscreen product is now headed up by Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.

Dudley told talkSPORT.com he’s loving the star’s current storyline with McIntyre, too, saying: “I love it, absolutely love it.

“You have a reputation of being the best in the world and you’re on point with everything and you’re doing your thing.

The tag team specialist was bowled over by the multi-time world champion, insisting many who label him as a problem have it all wrong.

Dudley recalled: “I met him in the elevator at WrestleMania… we’d never met before.
