YouTube Will Now Allow Creators to Edit Out Rule-Breaking Elements in Videos

YouTube’s looking to add yet another way for creators to avoid content restrictions, this time by giving them the opportunity to edit out violative elements of their clips.

YouTube’s been working to provide more options for creators in dealing with copystrikes and content rule violations, so that they can maintain monetization, and keep their content up in the app.

And now, it’s trying out a new editing alternative to address problematic elements.

As per YouTube:

“We’re testing a new feature that would allow creators to edit some of their content if it’s been age restricted or removed due to certain Community Guidelines violations. If the problematic portions of the video are addressed, the age restriction will be removed or the video will be put back on YouTube.”

YouTube says that if this option is available to you. you’ll see the option to revise your content in YouTube Studio, in the case of an issue.

“From there [creators] can make changes to address any policy issues using a video editor. Once complete, YouTube’s policy team will review the updated version and modify the policy decision accordingly. As usual, the creator can choose to appeal instead.”

As noted, YouTube’s been working to improve this aspect, in order to better serve creators in the case of rule violations.

Back in March, YouTube added a new process that highlights the specific times of violations in your content, so that you can address demonetization and restriction concerns more easily.  YouTube also rolled out updates to its copystrikes system late last year.

Both have long been problematic for creators, who are working to stay within the rules, and maximize their channel growth. Having your content removed, with limited insight into why, has always been a challenging aspect, but now, YouTube’s improving its systems, in order to help keep creators within its various guidelines.

As such, this is a good update, which will provide another avenue to address issues, and keep your content active.
